These and similar devices use potable water to remove the ground water or sewage from a sump and discharge it into the sewage system. The plumber asked about the cross connection and the seller said that it was not required as it was residential.

The literature on their website does say – NOTE: As per the Uniform Plumbing Code and per the Plumbing Codes of some states, including the State of Michigan, installation of this product requires the use of an RPZ backflow protection device. Contact your local plumbing or water authority for more information regarding the requirements for your specific area.
